FOR INTERESTED PERFORMERS: Thank you for wanting to be part of Mountville! Every year we get far more inquiries than we can host, and we are humbled by the quality as well as the quantity. Each year we try to program a diversity of folk and roots music artists, which is an essential part of our mission as a portal for music discovery. Many years we have to choose one or two from a large collection of fairly similar styles to maintain that balance and diversity, and our audience has developed a lot of trust in our ability to put together a great program for their enjoyment.

It is important to know that Mountville is essentially a voluntary commitment. As we move forward it is a foundational goal of ours to be able to give each artist a small honorarium in addition to being well-fed and loved on by our crew and guests while they're here, but that is not a guaranteed financial commitment at present. We do present your work in a lovely setting to a well-interested audience who historically have bought lots of music and signed up for artist mailing lists. There are also some regional presenters who have subsequently booked Mountville artists to come to their series.

We realize that the landscape for performing artists is as challenging as we've ever known due to the combined impacts of streaming, larger artists downsizing into smaller venues, many venues closing, a gradual but substantial loss of exposure through public/community radio and print media, and smaller audiences at most performances than we were accustomed to pre-pandemic. That makes our mission and our position even more important; to help educate the listening public as well as expose them to both new music and longtime Mountville favorites. It's a challenge, and we're grateful that we have the opportunity - one that we take seriously indeed. Keeping our little corner of the performing arts world alive and vibrant is vital for all of us, and we will do our best to make the most of it for as long as Mountville continues.

With all of that said, if you are still interested in sharing your work with us, thank you for emailing a link to see some performance videos as well as your website URL, and a brief bio focused on what our audience would be experiencing from you and your music. We apologize that we can't respond personally to every submission, but we are grateful that you're here and we wish you well in your career!
