We are so thrilled to be welcoming Annette Wasilik back to Mountville for a VERY special Women Songwriters-in-the-Round finale set together with Lynn Hollyfield and Lisa Taylor. Annette has been writing songs since she was 14, when she found a Sears Silvertone abandoned in a tin wardrobe in the basement. "Songwriting," she says, "is like diving for pearls. I sink down and let my emotions lead into melody which leads to phrasing and lyrics. Later the editing comes in." She began performing locally but when her daughter was small, Annette paused to focus to building a massage practice and caring for her family. Her return resulted in her debut album, Songs from the Talking House, winning the WAMMIE Award for Contemporary Folk Recording of the Year (2016). In 2019, Annette created her Local Cream concert series showcasing the best local and regional songwriters at historic Hank Dietle's Roadhouse in Rockville MD. In the spring of 2022, her song "Almost" was a finalist in The Great American Song Contest and won "Outstanding Achievement in Songwriting" Award. Best of all, she is going to share some of her beautiful songs in our Finalé set, under a full “Strawberry Moon”.
Our Friday Finale "Songwriters in the Round" set is graciously underwritten by the Songwriter's Association of Washington; "All About The Song".
